The Benefits of Eating Organic Food

The Benefits of Eating Organic Food

"We are what we eat" — It is vitally important to eat organic food!

Is not only a well-known expression but a true reflection of what is happening today throughout the world. Over 2 billion people in the world suffer from obesity, while 36 million people will die this year from starvation.

What we eat can make a difference not only in our health but can elevate our consciousness. Too much of our food has been so modified that it has lost much of what nature originally intended.

Not only that, our food often comes from thousands of miles away.

We are disconnected from the way it was grown and the people who grew it, which ultimately leads us to be disconnected from ourselves.

Why should I eat organic food?

The term "organic" refers to the way agricultural products are grown and processed. The USDA requires that a certain set of criteria be met and maintained for products to be labeled as organic.

For example, organic crops must be grown in soil where no chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, or other prohibited substances have been applied to the land during the previous three years. Organic farmers are not allowed to use synthetic pesticides, bioengineered genes (GMOs), petroleum-based fertilizers, or sewage sludge-based fertilizers.

To consciously choose to eat organic all the time takes practice and education.

To make a true change, it is important to know why we should eat organic food. We need to understand that supporting the market for conventionally grown foods has an impact on the world, particularly on our health and the health of our children.
